Encircled by water and besieged by strong tides, roosts and skerries. Eynhallow comes from old Norse ‘Eyin Helga’ ‘Holy Island’ and has the remains of a Church or Monastery which dates back to the 11th century or possibly even back as far as Celtic or Norse times.
Uninhabited since 1840’s this Island is a place of pilgrimage and ritual, folklore and ghosts. Legends of mythical sea Throws or fantastical stories of the Finfolk who came onto the land only for the summer.
